A speed test lets you determine if there are changes in your bandwidth instantly, and gives you performance data on your network in your location. Try running a speed test program like SpeedTest by Ookla over one month to determine if your speeds have changed. If your bandwidth speeds decrease, your ISP is likely restricting your bandwidth.
There are many other ways to test and see if your ISP is doing more harm than good to your internet speeds, both at the office and at home.
There are a lot of things you expect out of your ISP, and security is one of the most important. An ISP is the first line of defense against a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on your network. And those types of attacks are happening more frequently and are growing in scale.
However, the stock security package your ISP offers likely isn’t capable of handling a sophisticated attack on an enterprise business. Your ISP should offer your business the option to purchase additional protection against this type of attack, especially if your business has a bring your own device (BYOD) policy.
